Crazy for Cakes!

Wedding cakes can be a couple’s favorite part of planning. Cakes are often a focal point at the reception and can sometimes be the guest’s favorite part! Textured cakes, floral details, cake toppers and ribbon borders…. whatever you choose can add the perfect dose of personality to your event.  Today we’re exploring some fun and unique ideas for a decorated wedding cake that we think you’ll enjoy!

A single tier can be just as beautiful as a large extravagant design! Metallics are growing in popularity and sugar flowers are always a good idea!  Image via.

Stucco texture is a perfect fit for weddings that have a slight rustic feel.  Blooms placed among the tiers can add a special touch and a pop of color. Via Style Me Pretty.

Texture can also be obtained with a sugar flower covering like this cake above!  A ribbon adds a classic and sophisticated touch. Image via.

This lightly dusted blue two tier cake has minimal detail with the braided bottom and off centered hydrangea flower on top.  It is just the right about of decoration to fit with the theme of the event without going overboard!

This gold and turquoise combination is accented nicely with pattern and border detail.  It is fun to carry the details of your invitations or table linens into the design of your cake! Image via.

NYE Wedding Inspiration : Sparkles and Sequins + Black and White

If I could do it again, I would TOTALLY get married on New Year’s Eve.  “Why?”, you ask? First, black + white + gold = my favorite color scheme.  Secondly, guests don’t leave before midnight on New Year’s Eve and celebration is in the air! I love it! Have you ever considered planning your wedding on NYE?

1) This wintery-white bouquet is seasonal with an extra touch of black and white to match the drama of the holiday.

2) A fabulous pair of shoes is a must for any bride, but these Badgley Mischka’s really fit the bill for NYE dancing!

3) Make sure your presence is known as the newest Mr. and Mrs. in the room with these sparkly banners.  Perfect for the back of your chairs during dinnertime.

4) A framed holiday card like this one from Rifle Paper Co. can add the perfect touch to a table display!

5) Create an intimate scene with blacks, whites and golds for your guests to dine and converse about the past year and what is to come.

6) Confetti is a must!

7) Let your bridesmaids add to the glitz and glam with these gorgeous sequin bridesmaids gowns photographed by Melissa and Beth.

8) Don’t forget to supply your guests with props and noisemakers to ring in the new year!

9) A cake that’s almost too pretty to eat! Bring the patterns and colors of the evening into your confections!

10) The perfect dose of NYE fashion and chiffon for dancing ’til Midnight in this wedding gown.

11)This type of celebration deserves a little champagne, and cute straws like these never hurt anyone!

Like the vision we’ve shared with you today? We’d love to plan a fabulous Soirée for you and your guests!  Inquire through our contact form and we can look to meeting for a consultation to begin planning an event that’s perfect for you.

Lauren and Sean : Kansas City Public Library Wedding

Lauren and Sean’s wedding day was a true celebration through and through. The ceremony was planned to be held at the bride’s parent’s home with a beautifully decorated chuppah and floral accents lining the aisle.  As it grew closer to ceremony start time, the skies grew darker and a heavy rainfall began.  Prepared with a necessary “rain plan” for an outdoor wedding, the ceremony was quickly moved to the Kansas City Public Library, the couple’s reception location.  A rain storm could not stop this couple from continuing on in celebrating their love. After Lauren and Sean were pronounced man and wife, the guests started the party with the traditional “Hava Nagila” and dancing continued all night long.

Congratulations to Lauren and Sean! It was a pleasure to be a part of your wedding day and we are so happy for you to begin your lives together!
